SOMATICS In

nature

What does somatic mean?

When you hear the word somatic, think “in-body.” While much of the work in coaching sessions can involve talking to support clarity, my specialty lies in relying heavily on the wisdom of the body. Nervous system regulation begins with body awareness.

how does integration work?

Building awareness in the body is a gradual process. It doesn’t always come easily—and that’s perfectly normal. Using the tactile resources of nature (the dirt beneath your feet, the wind against your face, the tree supporting your back) I guide you in accessing the body in a gentle and meaningful way.

Experiential activities then begin the process of mind–body connection. These activities include guided prompts and movements that physically represent a meaningful internal shift. From grounding, to letting go, to anchoring a felt sense, I intuitively use what nature provides to create a lasting impression of change—one the body can remember.

Using sensations felt within the body, I support individuals in gently tuning in to their internal experience, creating integration between the body and the mind.

  • Somatic nature sessions are 1-hour in length and take place outdoors either in the barn area or walking on the local paths in nature.

  • No. However, while we won’t be working in the arena with horses, sessions often include observation of a single horse or herd dynamics to build and strengthen body awareness, prompt reflection, and create meaning instilled in memory.

  • I recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes that can easily slide on and off for grounding practices.

  • Following sessions, I always encourage clients to drink lots of water and journal any reflections that may arise later to bring to later sessions.

  • No somatic knowledge or experience is necessary to engage in a somatic session. Sometimes less is more! Being present is the best thing you can bring to session.

  • Prior to your first session, please review, sign, and submit the Coaching Agreement:
