What DOES IT MEAN TO BE SELF-LED?
1
Being Self Led means listening to the wisdom and inner guidance of the Self, the essence of who you were before the world and life’s experiences began to shape you. Access to the Self arrives in stillness, can be witnessed in awareness, and felt through somatic (body-based) practices.
what’s the difference between coaching and therapy?
2
Both therapy and coaching can support growth, direction, and healing. However, there are a couple differences in each approach.
Therapy puts an emphasis on the past and mental health, rooted in earlier experiences with a focus on repair, stabilization, and healing, facilitated by a mental health professional.
Therapy asks, “What happened to you and how it is affecting you now?”
Coaching is forward-focused and growth-oriented, supporting clients in gaining clarity, insight, and alignment towards moving where they want to go. The focus is on self-awareness, empowerment, choice, and integration of insights into day to day living. Coaching a non-clinical, non-therapeutic service.
Coaching asks, “Where are you now, and where are you emerging next?”
Therapy focuses on healing what hurts; coaching focuses on listening to what’s calling you forward.
WHAT IF I’VE NEVER BEEN AROUND HORSES BEFORE?
3
No problem. You do not need any horse experience, and there is no riding involved. Before your session, I’ll explain basic safety and what to expect. All participants must completed a Horse Safety Training prior to beginning services.
Some sessions may involve observing the horses rather than direct interaction—this can still be deeply regulating and meaningful. I stay closely aware of the horses and their cues throughout, so you can feel supported and safe.
CAN I DO BOTH THERAPY AND COACHING WITH YOU?
4
While it is possible to offer both therapy and coaching, clients may only see me for either coaching or therapy—not both. In order to remain ethical in my work, I only see clients in one capacity or the other and cannot switch between each.
If at any point during a coaching session I recognize symptoms or psychological disclosures that would be better served in therapy, I refer clients to a licensed clinician, therapist, and/or resources.
